A Simple Saturday
Finding God's Goodness in Everyday Life
❤️
Happy Saturday, friends!
There's something special about the little things that make a house feel like home. The smell of something delicious cooking, a favorite family recipe, conversations around the table, and the traditions we carry from one generation to the next can bring so much joy to everyday life.
In our family, we have a wonderful blend of cultures. I'm American with Swedish and German roots, and my husband is Hungarian. Our different backgrounds bring a variety of flavors and traditions into our home, and I love finding ways to enjoy those influences while keeping our meals low-carb and keto-friendly.
For us, healthy living isn't about making every meal complicated or following a perfect routine. It's about finding simple, enjoyable ways to nourish ourselves while making room for the people and experiences that matter most.
A Saturday Reminder
Sometimes we get so caught up in what we need to do next that we forget to appreciate what we already have. We worry about tomorrow's responsibilities, our unfinished to-do lists or the goals we're still working toward, but God gives us opportunities to practice gratitude in the middle of ordinary life.
One of my favorite reminders comes from Colossians 3:17:
“And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” — Colossians 3:17
What a beautiful reminder that even everyday activities can become opportunities to show love and gratitude. Preparing a meal, caring for our families, offering a kind word, or helping someone who needs us can all be done with a thankful heart.
If you're working toward healthier habits, give yourself that same grace. You don't have to prepare elaborate meals or get everything right every day. Small, thoughtful choices can become part of a sustainable routine.
This Saturday, try to make room for something that brings you joy. Enjoy a home-cooked meal, spend time with loved ones or take a few quiet moments to pray and thank God for His goodness.
An Easy Keto Side Dish: Crispy Parmesan Green Beans 🧀
If you need a simple side dish for the weekend, these roasted parmesan green beans are easy to prepare and pair wonderfully with chicken, steak or fish.
Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 15–20 minutes
Servings: 4
Ingredients
1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Wash the green beans and dry them thoroughly.
Toss the green beans with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Arrange them in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Sprinkle with parmesan cheese and roast for 15–20 minutes, turning once, until tender and lightly browned.
Serve warm with your favorite low-carb main dish.
Anya's kitchen tip: Make sure the green beans are dry before roasting. This helps them brown instead of steam. For extra flavor, add a little freshly grated parmesan or lemon zest just before serving.
Keto note: Green beans contain carbohydrates, so keep your portion in mind when planning your meals. Total and net carbohydrates will vary depending on ingredient brands and serving sizes.
May Your Weekend Be Filled with Blessings
As you enjoy your weekend, remember that a beautiful life isn't built only around big celebrations or special occasions. It's also built through ordinary moments of love, kindness, faith, and gratitude.
Whether you're cooking for your family, spending time with friends, enjoying a quiet morning, or taking another small step toward your health goals, I hope you find something to be thankful for today. May God guide your steps, bless your home, and help you recognize the goodness that surrounds you.
Have a wonderful and blessed weekend!
